About the Honor Bands
for High School Musicians (Grades 9-12)
The Penn Band High School Honor Bands are co-sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania Band (http://www.pennband.net/), and Destination Penn (http://www.destinationpenn.com). In their fourth year, these opportunities are designed to recognize outstanding high school musicians (Grades 9-12) in the region, and to offer unique musical experiences found no where else.
The Palestra Honor Band March 8th, 2008 An Honor Band in the form of a collegiate pep band (limited to 70 students) will be assembled for a one-day event on the Penn campus. This day will include rehearsals, leadership seminars, and special clinics. The day will conclude with the performance of the pep band at a Division I Basketball game at the Palestra, college basketball’s most historic gym, including a special halftime performance.

The Band Extravaganza Day Honor Band March 29th, 2008 An Honor Band (limited to 100 students) will be assembled for a one-day event on the Penn campus. This day will include rehearsals, off-the-beat lectures, and special presentations. The day will conclude with concert event on the Penn campus that will include the University of Pennsylvania Band and other musical ensembles.
